Rural Social Scheme
Intended results
To highlight that the Rural Social Scheme is a vital support to low-income farmers, benefitting farmers nationally. Farm Assist is also vitally important for low-income farm families, allowing them to continue in production during difficult times.
To propose that credits should be provided to farmers on Farm Assist prior to 2007, when they were ineligible to make PRSI contributions under the scheme.
To propose that the Rural Social Scheme means reviews should be undertaken at 3 yearly intervals, instead of the current annual review.
To propose that farmers who reach the age of 66 should be given the opportunity to stay on the Rural Social Scheme.
