Submission (1)
IPRT made a detailed written submission to the Justice Committee in Sept 2023 regarding this Bill seeking to place the Irish Prison Service on a statutory basis. Recommendations included that the independence of any such new statutory body be strengthened and protected, that a 'Culture Committee' be established as part of the new body comprising staff and prisoner representatives, and that there be a risk committee distinct from the audit committee.
Meeting (1)
Saoirse Brady, Executive Director, and Helen Kehoe, Legal & Public Affairs Manager, were invited by the Justice Committee to present a summary of the written submission and answer Committee member questions regarding the submission on 3 October.
