On 2nd February 2021, a letter was sent to the Minister for Health (by post and by email) requesting that, as the guidelines for the prioritisation of vaccine distribution are being developed, health research professionals providing essential services to clinical trials, including COVID-19 vaccine and treatment trials, as well as ongoing clinical trials and related activities in other therapeutic areas, be classified among the priority medical personnel who are critical to the nation’s response to the pandemic.
