Letter (11-20)
The communication set out why, if enacted, the Bill would damage the environment, the Irish economy and jobs, now and in the future, and threaten the security of Ireland’s energy supply. It also made specific reference to the negative impact of the Bill’s proposals on communities living on the western and southern coasts.
Letter (6-10)
The communication requested a meeting with the DPOs in question to discuss the impact of the Bill. A short note was enclosed setting out the reasons why the Bill should be opposed.
Letter (11-20)
A letter to the Chair of the Committee was copied by email to all members of the Committee. The letter set out a number of clarifications in relation to references made at the Committee’s hearings on 3 and 10 July and which relate to the exploration for oil and gas in Irish waters and how it is regulated, the oil and gas exploration sector generally and Providence Resources P.l.c and some of its exploration activities.
Meeting (1)
John Conroy and Pat Shannon, Chairperson of IOOA attended a meeting at Leinster House providing information on Irish offshore exploration and production, current and potential future benefits to the economy and Ireland's current and future energy requirements.
