Specific Details Written submission made to The Labour Court following notice issued of the Review of Joint Labour Committees and invitation to make a written submission in respect of the review, setting out the grounds on which the JLC concerned should be retained, abolished or amalgamated with another JLC. The Restaurants Association (RAI) commissioned a report regarding proposed JLCs affecting RAI members, namely catering and hotels. This submission was made on the 6th April 2017.

Intended results The submission reviewed of the implications a JLC would have and demonstrated the impact in the restaurant or associated sectors of catering and hotels, accounting for inevitable tourism issues, issues with competitiveness, labour costs and Brexit. The Restaurants Association of Ireland recommend that the Joint Labour Committees and associated system of Employment Regulation Orders be abolished.

Submission (1)

The Labour Court issued a Notice -of the Review of Joint Labour Committees and invited written submissions in respect of the review, setting out the grounds on which the JLC concerned should be retained, abolished or amalgamated with another JLC. The Court would then consider any written submissions received in carrying out its review. Following the review, the Court makes certain recommendations to the Minister for Business, Enterprise and Innovation.
