Specific Details Regulation of home care for older people in Ireland.

Intended results The government to establish home care on a statutory basis, thus introducing a legal entitlement to funding for home care, and mirroring the legal entitlement to funding for long stay care available through the Nursing Home Support Schemes. The Department of Social Protection to change the current criteria for jobseekers’ payments from the number of paid ‘days’ to a paid ‘hours’ approach. This would allow would-be carers to work a few hours each day without losing the entirety of their social welfare entitlements.
