Specific Details School Meals Programme

Intended results All schools currently availing of funding under the SMP should receive 100% funding for a breakfast and lunch for all of their children every school day. All DEIS children to be provided with both a breakfast and lunch every school day. Access to the SMP should be granted based on a reasonable case being made by a school. Increase the budget by an extra € 5m per annum and facilitate the foregoing underfunded DEIS and ineligible schools. Review and adjust the allocations to reflect relevant cost inflation since the introduction of the SMP. Suppliers should be obliged to meet certain standards with a view to obtaining approved supplier status and schools should then only be able to appoint approved suppliers.
