Specific Details The RGFI is consumer lead and is an advocacy for the large gas consumers from the manufacturing and processing sectors from Irish pillar industries. To date there has been very limited engagement between DCCAE and industry where their requirements to future proof their markets, consumers demands and industry sustainable and competitive means through the use of renewable natural gas.

Intended results The RGFI intends to promote the wider economic and environmental benefits of using renewable natural gas as a primary source of energy that has been captured through GHG emissions mitigation measures, with the use of mature technology and utilising existing agricultural waste, cattle slurry, residues, rotation & catch crops. This can develop into a significant indigenous renewable natural gas industry while providing potential solutions to the decarbonisation of agricultural practices in Ireland

Meeting (1)

The RGFI is consumer lead and an advocacy for the large gas consumers in the manufacturing and processing sectors of agri food, beverages, bio-pharma and medical devices seeking the most cost effective solutions to reaching their Carbon Neutral Policy by 2030. In addition to providing a viable option in renewable natural gas it delivers significant economical and environmental benefits such as improved air, soil and water quality, bio diversity, local employment and opportunities to rural Ireland. Potential to future proof agriculture through GHG emissions mitigation using mature technology of anaerobic digestion.
