Specific Details This concerns the granting of a licence to BioAtlantis Ltd for the mechanical harvesting of kelp in Bantry Bay, Co. Cork.While harvesting of kelp has been done in Bantry Bay for geerations and can continue in a way that is both sustainable and greate jobs.However the use of a mechanical boat is not the way to do this. Furthermore this lcence has been granted witout any proper assessment of its impact and without proper consultation with the local community.

Intended results The final goahead to teh company has yet to be made and this is the responsibility of the Minister for Planning and Local Government, Eoghan urphy. This lobbying action is intended to convince him to stall his final decision until the full impact of industrial scale mechanical kelp harvesting is properly assessed and until the local community is properly consulted.
