Intended results
To seriously tackle the issue of getting vacant property back into habitability
Involve those currently on the housing waiting list to contribute to the refurbishment of those properties and all newly constructed housing stock for them to contribute, A Government/Council run Habitat for Humanity type scheme, to build social cohesion and community building inclusivity.
Tackle the social stigma of those in State-provided or heavily subsidised accommodation, an often unfair opinion and a generalisation that they are not contributing to society or their accommodation provision and community.

We are currently experiencing an extreme skilled workforce shortage to tackle our housing and infrastructure deficit, with other commercial construction taking priority.

One of the proposals of the bill is to free up skilled workers by replacing those workers with the expected residents and community to work on the less skilled work, similar to how Habitat for Humanity runs its organisation. www.habitatireland.org
