Specific Details The AILG sought amendment to the Planning & Development (Housing) and Residential Tenancies Bill

Intended results To seek amendment that Councillors would have right of notification and of consultation regarding large residential planning applications. The Bill provided that such applications might be made directly to An Bord Pleanala and would not go through the planning authority (the local authority).

Letter (1)

Letter sent to Minister Simon Coveney, T.D. on 25 October 2016 outlining the AILG's concerns regarding the Bill's proposal that large residential planning applications would "by pass" the local authority (planning authority). The letter proposed that local authorities members would have a right of consultation in regard to any such applications.
