Specific Details Student Housing investment

Intended results Make something happen finally in student housing in Limerick. Silo'ed central govt approach slowing down possibilities for holistic outcome for the Mid-West. Need for third level colleges to use public competitions to crowd in non sector investment by securing development partners with scale, expertise and funding. But needs involvement by local authority and LDA in selection of strategic sites to achieve better urban redevelopment and TOD. I had been working with TURF on this but failed.

Meeting (1)

As a result of the failure of general discussions in Limerick and with third level colleges to gauge interest, I wanted to share my observations with the Department about missed opportunities and failures in the system as I saw them which resulted in a strategic infrastructure fund with which I had been working concluding Ireland was not a good place to invest in for now and that the system was not ready for scaled holistic investment as happens in other countries.
