Specific Details Chartered Environmentalist launch - Invitation to speak

Intended results Engineers Ireland has become the first organisation outside the UK to be licensed by the Society for the Environment to award this important professional title. An invitation was extended to Minister Ryan TD to attend the launch event in April at Engineers Ireland's head office so that the Minister could address our membership, given his portfolio, but also that he would be aware of the Title and the commitment of eligible engineers to acquiring this Title. To become a Chartered Environmentalist with Engineers Ireland, applicants must first be a Chartered Engineer and must be able to demonstrate: Application of knowledge and understanding of the environment to further the aims of sustainability; Leadership in sustainable management of the environment; Effective communication and interpersonal skills and a personal commitment to professional standards, recognising obligations to society, the profession and the environment.

Minister Eamon Ryan TD was asked to speak. His Special Adviser was also invited to speak and address the membership. Neither invitee were available to speak. (Note that Engineers Ireland's Communications Director, M Hoctor had also mentioned the new Title informally to the Minister at a non-Engineers Ireland event at the Museum of Literature MOLI - in March).
