Specific Details
Communications with the members of the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Agriculture, Food and the Marine, as part of the Stakeholder Consultation on pre-legislative scrutiny of the Veterinary Medicinal Products, Medicated Feed and Fertilizer Regulation Bill 2022.
Intended results
Presentation of the Veterinary Ireland submission to the Joint Committee on Agriculture, Food and the Marine in the context of the Committee’s pre-legislative scrutiny of the Veterinary Medicinal Products, Medicated Feed and Fertilizer Regulation Bill 2022.
Briefing of the JOC Members on the concerns of Veterinary Ireland in relation to Bill.
To brief JOC on Veterinary Ireland concerns on Anti-Microbial / Anti-Parasitic Resistance, the duration of prescriptions, reduction of competition, the National Veterinary Prescription System (NVPS) and the availability of Veterinary Medicines.
That Veterinary Ireland be fully consulted on all aspects of the proposed National Veterinary Prescription System, including the capital and ongoing costs that will arise from interacting with the proposed system, and that members participation in the proposed NVPS is by agreement with Veterinary Ireland.
That the JOC ensures Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine engages with Veterinary Ireland to ensure a smooth and agreed integration of NVPS into veterinary practices that minimises the impact on the running of veterinary practices, enable private veterinary practitioners to provide the clinical services required by the agri-food industry and reduce the use of veterinary medicinal products prudently in compliance with the Regulation.
