Attendance on 26 May 2021 by Engineers Ireland at a Joint Oireachtas Committee meeting on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform, and Taoiseach. Attendance was at the invitation of the Committee and the organisation was represented by its Vice President John Power and Michael Lyons, Chair of our Fire and Safety Division. On the 26 May, emails were sent on behalf of Damien Owens, our Registrar, to Ministers, Deputies, Senators and officials listed below requesting meetings in relation to the issue around engineers from certain sectors having difficulty acquiring Professional Indemnity Insurance. Note also that other emails issued that day to Minister Darragh O Brien TD and David Moloney, Acting Secretary General of the Dept of Public Expenditure & Reform from Engineers Ireland but jointly together with the RIAI, ACEI & the SCSI on an overview of challenges relating to Professional Indemnity Insurance.
