Specific Details
Lobbied the Irish Government to srengthen external child rights measures under the EU Strategy on the Rights of the Child.
Intended results
strengthening of the EU Strategy on the Rights of the Child in external matters..
2. Commit to jointly implement the Strategy and allocate the necessary human and financial resources for this implementation, especially with regards to partner countries. Build on the inter-ministerial approach adopted for the reporting to the Committee on the Rights of the Child for the implementation of the Strategy.
3. Call on the European Commission to develop further actions to ensure that every child has their rights realised by being protected from and prepared for the impacts of climate change including through the promotion of environmental protection across policy areas, by building resilience and disaster preparedness directly into social sectors (education, health, WASH, nutrition, social and child protection).
4. Call on the European Commission to implement a ‘Child Marker’ to monitor and report on EU external investments in children, therefore improving the existing monitoring framework which currently does not allow to track EU external spending benefiting children.
5. Call on the European Commission to mainstream the principles, commitments, and actions from this Strategy into the on-going programming cycle for 2021-2027 by ensuring the integration of child-focused objectives, targets and indicators supporting partner countries’ priorities.
