Broadband across Carlow, NBI rollout and connection of businesses. Considering the govt have invested heavily in helping businesses to develop online presence over the last 14 months, we need to ensure they are able to connect
Intended results
In Carlow we have businesses that are not receiving proper connection and are not on the NBI list, despite NBI passing their premises. This is because a commercial operator has suggested they service the premises. This needs to be reviewed and amended to ensure businesses are connected.
Tullow Industrial Estate spends est €50k pa on leased lines and they need more stable and quality connections, engineers have advised it would be straight forward to connect the estate and this needs to happen to continue supporting the 400+ working here
The NBI rollout plan is too rigid and needs to allow for changes, especially give the challenges that have seen so many changes in the country over the last 14 months
The definition of broadband as used by the department and NBI as 30mbps down and 6mbps up is outdated and needs to be changed to reflect modern demands and requirements
