The role of a Digital Minister should encompass: - Developing national digital infrastructure and digital public-services; - Advancing Ireland as a world leading data economy, that supports technology innovation and the protection of citizens’ data; - Fully resourcing the new National Cyber Security Centre and appointing a Chief Cyber Risk Officer for Government; - Leading the implementation of the National Cyber Security Strategy (published in 2015); - Supporting the work of the Data Protection Commissioner (DPC), ensuring the DPC’s office is properly resourced and meets the needs of the public and business. - Overseeing the Government CIO Office and roll out of the Public Service ICT Strategy; - Acting as the lead department to work with our EU partners to complete the Digital Single Market, making sure enterprise and regulatory agencies are capable of supporting companies to take advantage of new business opportunities
