Specific Details Misean Cara post-Budget 2021 note to Oireachtas Joint Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defence. Misean Cara is writing to bring to your attention the Joint Committee’s call in its Review of the Irish Aid Programme in February 2018 for Government to “examine opportunities to increase funding to missionary bodies.”

Intended results Scaled up missionary funding within the bilateral ODA envelope of Irish ODA to better match the scale of unmet demand among our members and their potential for transformational change on the ground in over 50 countries. The increased funding announced in Budget '21 affords an important opportunity to increase funding to CSOs in Ireland & the Global South, including missionary groups, for effective development work that is particularly focused on marginalised & excluded groups in line with RFBF.

With the welcome Budget announcement of €867 million investment in ODA, and as Misean Cara members and overseas partners highlight the need for additional resources (ever before extra COVID19 demands) which it is unable to provide at current levels of funding, Misean Cara is writing to bring to your attention the Joint Committee’s call in its Review of the Irish Aid Programme in February 2018 for Government to “examine opportunities to increase funding to missionary bodies.”
