Society of the Irish Motor Industry
Lobbying activity
The following activities occurred for this specific Subject Matter Area.
Letter (1)
The Society (SIMI) wrote to the Minister for finance expressing its serious concerns over the rising costs of Motor Insurance. Motor Insurance in Ireland reduced by some 40% following the issue of the previous Motor Insurance Advisory Board Report. The SIMI believes that a similar review of the issues impacting on Motor Insurance costs today is vital if we are to avoid some of the problems that were experienced as a result of very high Motor Insurance costs in the past. For both car owners and the Insurance Industry such an objective review of the real issues that are causing the steeply rising costs into the future should be very welcome and indeed reassuring. In this regard, The SIMI is calling for Government to establish a new Motor Insurance Advisory Board to advise the Minister in this regard.
