The following activities occurred for this specific Subject Matter Area.
Letter (11-20)
Specifically, the Board of Ballyhoura Development is seeking that :
1) An additional €200 million is allocated to a National Rural Development Programme to complement the existing LEADER allocation.
2) A Minister with specific responsibility for Rural Development be appointed.
3) The Rural Development Programme, in its entirety, be implemented by the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine.
4) Core funding be provided to Local Development Companies to support community led local development to prepare for its mainstreaming from 2020-2027.
In order to support growth and realise the potential of rural communities to contribute to and benefit from the fragile improvement in Irelands economy, we will require a return to previously successful strategies, as deployed across the 2000-2006 Rural Development approach. The Government at the time, in recognising the importance of a strong rural economy and rural communities.
