Specific Details The potential development of an Equine Health Campus on the current site of the Irish Equine Centre in Johnstown, Co. Kildare. The Irish Equine Centre is responsible for the overall health of the Irish equine herd.

Intended results To create awareness of the current challenges facing the existing facilities of the Irish Equine Centre which are no longer fit for purpose; and to raise awareness of the potential benefits to the Irish equine industry of developing an Equine Health Campus on the current site of the Irish Equine Centre.

The following activities occurred for this specific Subject Matter Area.

Meeting (2-5)

Sarah McNicholas (CEO) and John Malone (Chairman) of the IEC met with Minister Creed on two occasions. The first was a meeting with the Minister at Agriculture House on the 28th September 2018. The Chief Veterinary Officer, Martin Blake, also attended the meeting. At that meeting, the issues around the IEC's facility were outlined. The second meeting was at the IEC itself on Thursday 29th November 2018 when Minister Creed visited the IEC and took a tour of the facility. He was accompanied by Rebecca Chapman from DAFM.
