Specific Details We looked for support on the review of section 40 of the wildlife act. This was in particular relation to the burning of vegetation in upland areas to allow for better vegetation management

Intended results The burning season was reduced by 6 weeks in 2000 without any consultation with landowners. We sought to have the burning season extended to allow for a more managed approach to vegetation management.

Meeting (1)

A joint meeting of the 5 Wicklow TDs was held in Leinster House November 2015. We outlined that the burning dates for upland vegetation should be inline with the UK and Northern Ireland burning season.

A follow up meeting was had with TDs absent from the joint meeting above where it was again outlined that the burning dates for upland vegetation should be inline with the UK and Northern Ireland burning season.
