Meeting (1)

NHI representatives presented regarding: 1. National Development Plan: NHI advanced planned capital spend on public nursing homes does not represent best use of scarce public resources & current funding model (Fair Deal) is illogical & not fit for purpose. 2. Discharge planning - NHI referred to capacity of sector & willingness to engage to alleviate crisis . 3 GP cover nursing home residents - NHI informed of challenges and crisis in parts of the country in ensuring GP cover for nursing home residents. NHI submission proposes revised GP contract provide for a separate contract that acknowledges the complexity of nursing home care and regulatory requirements. 4. Fair Deal pricing review. NHI outlined frustration the long awaited review has not met its 1st June 2017 deadline and pressed for its immediate publication. 5. HCA recruitment - NHI calls for changes to the Employment Permit Regulations, with meeting between DOH & Business, Enterprise & Innovation to be prioritised
