Grant Thornton engaged by Woodlands House Hotel & Spa to provide advice and assistance on a submission to the National Roads Authority (NRA) re: location of Adare exit interchange for the proposed Adare ByPass. Two stages:
1. Prepare a high level financial impact report on the proposed location of the new Adare Bypass.
2. To coordinate the submission of the report with other engineers and market analysts in relation to the said impact.
A submission report outlining the loss of earning impact of current interchange location to the Woodlands and consequently it’s economic contribution to the general Adare region was provided to Council engineers, a number of Limerick Councillors and Tom Neville (TD). Provided to Tom Neville (TD) on the 28 September 2017.

Details: Presentation made outlining projected impact of proposed interchange on Woodland’s trade and consequent impact to its economic contribution to Adare environs. Detailing alternative interchange options that would mitigate impact on Woodlands passing trade. Woodland sought an interchange at existing Lantern Lodge roundabout which current entrance to Adare village from Limerick direction but proposed interchange will join at a junction closer to village significantly reducing Woodland’s passing traffic.
Outcome: Councillors in attendance declared support for Woodlands and suggested they would arrange presentation to full Council Meeting

Details: Discussion mainly with John Finnegan/Seamus MacGearailt regarding the process of the deciding on the final interchange position and discussion regarding the current proposed option and the alterative options submitted by the Woodlands.
Outcome: Clearer steps regarding how the process works and suggestion that a revised report to be submitted setting out the economic benefits of the proposed options.

Details: Meeting regarding an update on submissions to date and feedback regarding the Woodlands submission.
Outcome: Woodland submission has and is being considered but no written feedback provided. Any final submissions by the Woodland to be sent in prior to September 2018 when the final scheme will then be submitted to An Board Pleanala for approval.
