Veterinary Ireland concerns over Brexit
Intended results
To advise the Irish Government of the initial issues and concerns of Veterinary Ireland of the potential adverse impact that Brexit’s final outcomes may have on animal health and welfare, the availability of animal medicines, the impact on the movement of animals across borders, the movement and security of tenure of veterinary professionals and their staff members in both Ireland/EU and the UK, as well as the recognition of professional and academic qualifications between the EU and the UK.
That the Irish Government consider Veterinary Ireland’s initial issues and comments within the context of Brexit negotiations being conducted by Ireland.
That the Irish Government acknowledge Veterinary Ireland as a significant stakeholder in relation to the Irish Government's work on Brexit, especially in relation to agriculture, trade, food safety and public health.
That as well as direct communication between individual Departments and Veterinary Ireland, Veterinary Ireland also wishes to be involved in any stakeholder fora which may be set up by the Government on Brexit.
