Specific Details Proposed amendments to the ETS Registry (Regulation No 389/2013)

Intended results Ireland's support for proposed UK / German amendments to the ETS Registry Regulation - to be considered at the meeting of the Climate Change Committee on 30th November - over those of the Commission. In the event that the EU ETS compliance obligation lapses for Northern Ireland generators, a transition period during which the UK would continue to participate fully in the EU ETS, preferably to the end of Phase III (31st December 2020) to ensure equivalent carbon prices in Northern Ireland and Ireland. Maintain the validity of the UK 2018 EU allowances.

Attached to the email were: a Eurelectric letter (issued to National Climate Attachés) concerning the proposed amendments to the ETS Registry Regulation to be considered at the meeting of the Climate Change Committee on 30th November, and EAI’s response to the UK’s Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy consultation on the UK’s proposed arrangements for 2018.
