Intended results Gaining support for PwC roadmap for Ireland to meet its 2050 GHG emissions’ reduction targets at least cost Ireland's policy makers to establish a system of continually reducing carbon budgets. Ireland's policy makers to focus on achieving one common goal of emissions reductions across sectors and recognise that this can only be realised via a suite of complementary and not competing policy objectives. Ireland's policy makers to seek to identify the range of measures that deliver the most cost effective abatement return for consumers. Ireland's policy makers to ensure the alignment and integration of energy policy, infrastructure planning, capital investment frameworks and energy regulation. Action on heating and transport measures as suggested in the report.

A follow up email to the meeting held with Minister Denis Naughten was copied to Special Advisor, DCCAE, Ross Elwood. The email from Peter O'Shea, EAI Director, detailed further views on electrification of heat and transport and the Carbon Efficiency logic of such an electrification programme. It included analysis comparing the Carbon Efficiency of an Electric Vehicle with an Internal Combustion Engine and an Electric Heat Pump with an Oil or Gas Fired Central Heating System.
