September 2015 (World Heart Day, Brussels), the Heart Failure Policy Network (HFPN), a network of parliamentarians, patients and professionals from across Europe, launched the Heart Failure Policy Network in parliament. The network’s call-to-action includes - making heart failure a national priority, improving diagnosis for those at risk, increasing awareness and education of health professionals with regards to heart failure, and providing high quality, specialist care for patients.
The Heart Failure Policy Network is funded through a grant from Novartis Pharma and St Jude Medical.

December 2015 (Dublin) Launch of the Cost of Heart Failure in Ireland. New Irish research conducted with the Heartbeat Trust, the Irish Heart Foundation, the National University of Ireland Galway (NUIG) and supported by Novartis has found that the total cost of heart failure from a societal perspective is €660 million annually. Report recommendations - 1. Include Heart Failure within existing chronic disease policies and ensure there are sufficient resources to implement the National Clinical Programme for Heart Failure (HSE). 2. Ensure patients with potential symptoms of Heart Failure are diagnosed without delay, with equitable and rapid access to community/hospital diagnostic services. 3. Patients with diagnosed Heart Failure should have access to appropriate
treatment and follow up. 4. Implement a Heart Failure prevention and
early detection strategy.
