Spefic to protection of the social care worker title under the Health and Social Care Professionals Act 2005

Intended results commission of further investigation in to the issue o violence in the workplace against social care workers. Statement of the DCYA to guarntee that for services commissioned by public bodies will ensure that social care workers will be employed under proper title, particularly during the gran parenting period under the legislation

Meeting (1)

Meeting with Minister Zappone to discuss: 1)the violence in the workplace report carried out by Social Care Ireland and raise the issue of violence in the workplace against social care workers. 2) Registration for Social Care workers 3) zero contract hours for those social care staff who are employed by agencies.

Meeting (1)

Meeting with Finian McGrath TD 5th April. Leinster House. To discuss 2 item agenda 1) violence in the workplace report published by Social Care Ireland for social care workers and 2) general issues for social care in the disability sector such as recognition for social care as a profession in the sector. Moving from a medical model to a social care model of working with those with disabilities. Promotional opportunities for social care with the sector.
