Emalls sent to several government ministers on concerns regarding the matter, from a public health, economic, and sector-specific standpoint. These called for Irish Government assistance in effecting a common sense compromise that protects rather than diminishes public health.

Meetings took place between Kerry representatives and government ministers, re-affirming earlier stated concerns, and requesting advocacy from the Irish Government, together with other EU member states, to effect a change in position at EU level.
