Planning Permission - IFA Manifesto for Local Government Elections 2024
Intended results
To highlight that, although Ireland's Climate Action and Low Carbon Development (Amendment) Act (2021) requires Local Authorities to prepare a Local Authority Climate Action Plan (LACAP) to meet national emission reduction targets and develop resilience to the impacts of climate change, this cannot be utilised as a mechanism to prevent or constrain planned on-farm investment requiring planning permission.
To propose that the planning process needs to be fast tracked and streamlined for flooding works and investments that enhance slurry storage on farms.
To propose that development levies are punitive in some counties and should be suspended for on-farm environmental investments.
To propose that serial objectors that are not from the local area should not have the opportunity to launch an objection on such investments.
