Flat Rate VAT Refund to the Poultry Sector
Intended results
To highlight that the retention of the current Value Added Tax (VAT) flat rate rebate is of critical importance to the poultry sector.
To stress that it is not realistic or reasonable to seek a response to the Department of Finance's email, requesting that the poultry sector demonstrates that they should remain part of the Common Flat Rate Scheme for farmers as set out in the EU Directive on Value Added Tax (VAT), by early December.
To highlight that the poultry sector does not have access to additional information and resources for the compilation of their response. These are; 1. Provision of the data used to generate the figures and percentages used by the Department and 2. As per Article 298 of the EU VAT directive " the flat-rate compensation percentages shall be calculated on the basis of macro-economic statistics for flat-rate farmers alone for the preceding three years".
To request that the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (acting as an intermediary) would forward the poultry sector request to the Department of Finance seeking the information required and that the deadline for submission of a response be delayed to allow adequate time to make a comprehensive and detailed response.
