Intended results Rent Control should not be brought in, it reduces the amount of available property 100% Mortgage Interest Relief for investors in residential property similar to commercial property. This would help to prevent the loss of more property from the private rental sector. Allow bedsits with designated bathrooms outside to be allowed under Housing Standards Treat the letting of property as as business allowing legitimate expenses - fair tax treatment Understanding of the difficulties facing landlords Custodial Deposit Protection Scheme is costly and bureaucratic - should not commence -IPOA suggested Compensation Scheme instead HAP and Rent Supplement should be market rent. HAP tenants should have confirmation of entitlement prior to finding accommodation. Tenants payment to HAP should be stopped at source to avoid them going into arrears and the rent stopped to the property owner. Incentivise to have vacant properties brought back up to standard
