Specific Details Promote the work of Young Social Innovators and our Open Call for Young People launched in response to the Covid Emergency and engage with the YSI Challenge winning teams from local Schools. End the uncertainty by re-committing to the continuation of the Department of Children and Youth Affairs.

Intended results Extending social innovation to every secondary school, build on the work Young Social Innovators (YSI) have already carried out in Ireland, promote YSI’s Open Call for Young People launched in response to the Covid Emergency on social media with #YSIOpenCall or by issuing a local press release. Deadline for idea submission is 31st May. Engage with the YSI Challenge winning teams from local Schools and others shortlisted to compete for the Young Social Innovators of the Year Ireland Title 2020 which have been rescheduled to take place in the Autumn End the uncertainty by re-committing to the continuation of the Department of Children and Youth Affairs.

Asking the representatives to reflect on the YSI proposal and to use it to inform their work on behalf of their constituents and young people across the country, ? Supporting the social innovation work of our young people in addressing social issues facing their local communities and the country as a whole ? Expanding access to current social innovation programmes in one third of post primary schools to all post primary schools ? Using social innovation as a way to harness the energy, skills and talent of our young people particularly to assist the national recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic.
