Specific Details Oireachtas Heart and Stroke Group - Women's Heart Health

Intended results To request a Joint Health Committee hearing on women's heart health following the Oireachtas Heart and Stroke Group meeting in November 2025 To seek information regarding the extent to which flexible, community-based cardiac rehabilitation and respite supports are available to help women balance recovery with caring responsibilities. To seek information on the level of funding being planned or allocated specifically for research on women’s cardiovascular health, including prevention, diagnosis, and recovery.  To seek information on whether the Women’s Health Fund and the Sláintecare Integration Fund would be used to subsidise essential post-diagnosis care for women with cardiovascular disease, including medication, transport and rehabilitation To seek information on the measures being taken to ensure that healthcare professionals in primary and secondary care receive training on sex-specific cardiovascular symptoms and risk factors, and how this will be integrated into accreditation and continuing professional development.   To seek information on the measures being planned to implement the 2025 ESC Guidelines for Management of Cardiovascular Diseases and Pregnancy, including the establishment of pregnancy teams.   To seek information on the steps being taken to ensure that cardiovascular registries, audits, and research collect and publish-sex-and equity- disaggregated data. To seek information on what engagement has taken place with healthcare professional training bodies and nursing colleges to improve early recognition of heart disease in women. To seek information on the steps being taken to ensure that clinical guidelines and cardiovascular risk assessment tools reflect sex-specific differences in women’s cardiovascular policies.
