Nursing Homes Ireland (NHI) welcomes the recent adoption of the United Nations Human Rights Council resolution establishing an intergovernmental working group to draft a new UN convention on the human rights of older persons. This represents a landmark moment in global efforts to advance the rights, dignity, and well-being of older people, and reflects years of work by advocacy groups, older persons themselves, as well as civil society.
Intended results
To inform TD's, MEP's and officials that NHI welcomed the the recent adoption of the United Nations Human Rights Council resolution establishing an intergovernmental working group to draft a new UN convention on the human rights of older persons. Our CEO reaffirmed NHI's commitment to these principles and called on the Irish Government to support the convention’s development, ensuring voices of older people and care providers are at its heart.
