Regulation of Lobbying Act 2015 – Media Briefing
Commencement of Enforcement Provisions

As you will be aware, the Regulation of Lobbying Act 2015 commenced on 1 September 2015. We have seen 1,500 organisations and individuals register to date, and over 7,500 returns submitted.

In July 2016, the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform announced that enforcement provisions in relation to the Act will commence on 1 January 2017. These provisions give the Standards Commission the authority to investigate and prosecute contraventions of the Act and to levy fixed payment notices for late filing of lobbying returns.

I would like to invite you to attend a briefing session for members of the media on the commencement of enforcement provisions.

The session will take place at the offices of the Standards in Public Office Commission, 18 Lower Leeson Street, Dublin 2 on Monday 12 December 2016 at 10.30 am.
